Issue Overview:
Users with Luma3DS-modded Nintendo 3DS systems attempting to play Nintendo DS (NDS) games may encounter an error message stating "unable to mount CTRNAND." This issue often arises after modifications involving NDS Forwarder Generators and TWLFix, particularly if TWL applications are accidentally uninstalled from the Homebrew Launcher. This error does not affect 3DS game functionality or the system's boot process but specifically occurs when attempting to launch NDS titles.
Root Cause:
The error is typically related to the system's TWL firmware part, which is responsible for running DS titles. Uninstalling TWL applications can disrupt this functionality, leading to the CTRNAND mount error when the system attempts to access the DS game's content.
Solution Steps:
System Update via System Settings or Safe Mode:
Update your 3DS system firmware either through the System Settings or by entering Safe Mode.
- To enter Safe Mode:
- Power off the console.
- Hold the A+R+L+D-Pad Up buttons simultaneously, then press the Power button.
- Continue holding these buttons until the system boots into Safe Mode.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to update the system firmware.
